Coder II - Pediatric Inpatient

TITLE: Coder II - Pediatric Inpatient

HRS is seeking experienced remote pediatric inpatient coders with ICD-9-CM, CPT/HCPCS to work primarily with inpatient and same-day surgery/observation patient work types.   Strong knowledge of APR-DRG and Severity of Illness (SOI) classification necessary. Independent work management, ability to meet changing client requirements, comfort with basic PC and health information technology, and attention to detail are required for success in this role.

Job requirements and preferences:

• Requires a minimum of three (3) years of full-time healthcare coding experience in one or more areas related to work assignment (i.e., inpatient, pediatric, same-day surgery, observation)
• Minimum 1 year inpatient coding in pediatric hospital including APR-DRG assignment; general hospital pediatric coding does not apply
• Advanced education may be substituted for one (1) year of experience; this exemption does not apply to pediatric coding requirement
• RHIA, RHIT, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H required
• ICD-10 training certificate preferred
